May.23, 2020: The officials of district excise a taxation department led by ETO Excise Tejinder Kumar conducted raids across the district to nab the smugglers involved in the illicit sale of liquor. Sunita Batra Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner Fatehgarh Sahib told that on a tip off the officials of excise department along with police and Naib Tehsildar Mandi Gobindgarh conducted the raid at Durga Rice Mill Mangarh Road Amloh town and recovered 20 cases of PML meant for sale in Chandigarh and Haryana. She said that it was alleged that the owner of Rice Mill Ajay kumar resident of Amloh used to sell smuggled liquor illegally in the area. She said that FIR has been registered against Ajay Kumar under 61-1-14 Excise Act at police Station Amloh and he has been arrested.
Tejinder Kumar ETO Excise said that besides the department team led by Excise Inspector Khamano accompanied by SHO Kheri Naudh Singh conducted raids at the residence of one Baljinder Singh at village Chari and recovered 12 bottles without any marka and FIR was registered against him. He said at village Jallowal the raids were conducted at the houses of three bootleggers were conducted and illegal liquor was recovered. He said similarly raid was conducted at Mandi Gobindgarh and 10 bottles of IMFL were recovered and FIR was registered. He said that 12 bottles of PML Marka Santra for sale in Chandigarh only was recovered in village Kheri Naudh Singh and FIR was registered.
He said that department will continue to conduct the raids till all the smugglers and involved in the illicit sale of liquor are nabbed.
