Historic Day in Punjab : Captain and his CPS attend office after several months, CS tenders 'apology'
Chandigarh, May 27, 2020 : It was typical historic day for Punjab in the field of governance as Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh and his Chief Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar attended their offices in Punjab Civil Secretariat after several months. This may also be a mile stone that the Chief Secretary of the state tendered apology to Cabinet for his alleged "arrogant behavior and body language ."
May 27 , 2020 has gone into history as a most surprising day in the state as far as the governance is concerned . State’s Chief Secretary Karan A Singh reportedly tendered apology to the Cabinet for his alleged arrogant behavior to the ministers, which was accepted. The cabinet particularly FM Manpreet badal and Charanjit Channi accepted the apology and decide to bury the matter .
It may be first time in the history of the state that Chief Secretary had to apologize to the Ministers. In fact such incident has never been heard in any state of the country.
Similarly never has any state witnessed that its Chief Minister and his team visits their office after several months. Though the Chief Minister was doing his work from his private residence ( Farm House ) since the lockdown . Even during normal days , he used to work from his official residence . His absence from his office at Punjab Civil Secretariat always remained an issue and this was one of the grievances of the congress MLAs and leaders that he was not approachable easily
Same is case of Suresh Kumar Chief Principal Secretary to CM who had abandoned his office in the first wek of Septemebr , 2019 when he was allegedly targeted by onaother set of 'Darbaris' who were also close to Chief Minister. He was reportdly upset the handling of his case in the high court.
Since then Suresh Kumar had never visited his Punjab Civil Secretariat office. He used to work from home or from the premises of Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh.
It is learnt that Chief Minister reached his office at 2.15 pm today much ahead of the Cabinet meeting scheduled for 3.00 pm today. It was at this point when Suresh Kumar also attended his office which is next to CM officer at 2nd floor of the Punjab Civil Secretariat. He remained in office till CM remained in his office. After the Cabinet meeting both left the premises.
It may be mentioned that the whole second flood along with lifts and entry gates of the secretariat were sanitized and closed for any other person including media except cabinet minters and CMO staff.
This was the first time that CM and his team physically attended the meeting after curfew/ lockdown imposed in the state.
