Fatehgarh Sahib. June 07, 2020: To save the residents of Sirhind Fatehgarh Sahib from the fury of floods, a major portion of the Sirhind Choe was got constructed and rest of the portion passing through Sirhind area is being strengthened and desilted, so that rain water may pass through fastly and the farmer’s produce and residents may be saved, said Kuljit Singh Nagra MLA after inaugurating the process for desilting and strengthening of Sirhind Choe passing through residential areas of Sirhind.
Later Kuljit Singh Nagra MLA along with officials of drainage department and other officials inspected the site of Sirhind choe from Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib to Sirhind Railway Bridge and started the cleanliness work. He directed the drainage department officials to remove wild grass and silt from the choe immediately. He directed Xen Panchyati Raj, and all EOs to initiate the cleanliness drive of all canals, tunnels, bridges, ponds, drains, dis-tributaries and siphons in the district.
He said there is nothing to worry as all the necessary steps, precautions and arrangements at administrative level have been made to meet any eventuality during floods.
