Jalandhar, June 15, 2020: Continuing its drive against people for endangering the lives of people by not wearing the mask, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has so far issued 7406 challans to them, under the 'Mission Fateh' initiated by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, thereby imposing a fine of Rs 30.48 lakh on willful defaulters.
Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the Police have so far issued 7406 without mask challans and collected a fine worth Rs 30.48 lakh from the violators.
He said that a fine worth Rs 31,000 has been imposed so far for 20 violations of home quarantine instructions adding that 284 persons have been fined Rs 31,600 for spitting in public place.
Mr. Bhullar said that a total of 34028 challans have been issued so far to the traffic violators and 1979 vehicles have been impounded.
The Commissioner of Police further said that fine worth Rs 56,000 has been imposed on overloaded 34 four wheelers, Rs 9000 on overloaded 18 Autos and fine worth Rs 58000 has been imposed on 29 for violating social distancing norms.
He said that on Monday 229 traffic challans were issued.
Mr. Bhullar said that today 214 persons without mask were challaned and a fine worth Rs 1,07,000 was imposed on them.
Mr. Bhullar said that this drive would continue in the coming days and action would be taken against the violators adding that the people have to play a vanguard role for further checking the spread of COVID 19.
He said that it was the social responsibility of the residents to ensure the following the directives of the government to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
