Fatehgarh Sahib, July 06, 2020: The first death due to COVID was reported in the district as a patient Parmod Jindal 53 resident of Sham Nagar Mandi Gobindgarh died today in Rajindra hospital Patiala. As per health authorities patient developed fever on 2nd July and took treatment atprivate clinic in Khanna town and on 3rd he was admitted in Asia Columbia Patiala and on 5th July refered to Rajindra hospital Patiala and today he died there. No travel history associated co-morbidity. The health department traced his 12 close contacts and samples of all were taken.
Meanwhile Dr. N.K.Aggarwal Civil Surgeon said that today three new positive cases surfaced in the district and one patient was discharged from Gian Sagar as he was cured. He said that two positive cases are from Mandi Gobindgarh and one from Sirhind town. He said that the tally of positive cases reaches 127, whereas only 22 cases are active, whereas rest has been treated. Active are admitted in different hospital and all are in good health and none of them is in serious condition. He said that total 10800 samples were taken and 10410 were tested negative and result of 262 is awaited.
