Nawanshahr, August 01, 2020: The School Education Department, Punjab has been making all out efforts to cater to the educational needs, hopes and aspirations of the students as well as the parents under its innovative initiative " Ghar Baithe Sikhiya" during the COVID - 19 era. The department has made elaborate and meticulous planning to execute this ambitious project when the unprecedented pandemic COVID-19 forced the imposition of lock down in March this year. Since then, lakhs of students not only studying in government schools and staying in Punjab but the students belonging to migratory labourers, who have to go to their native places in different states , have been availing the benefits of " On-Line Classes".
The encouraging response from the students and their parents has further been motivating the teachers to devise more and more innovative techniques. The Special Educators and physiotherapists, too, have been adopting digital route to take care of the special physiological, psychological and educational needs of the Divyang students.
"Though it is a great challenge, but , it seems that the divyang students have acclimated themselves to the new normal during the lock-down. The DSE, Narinder Kaur and Rajni alongwith IERT Volunteers have consistently been taking classes and organising different activities as per schedule. Similarly , the physiotherapist , Ravinder Kumar, has constantly been in touch with the Divyang students and through Zoom app, he has been guiding them for the requisite exercises", said DEO( Primary), Pawan Kumar.
Deputy District Education Officer( Primary), Chhotu Ram has conducted a meeting on Zoom App with the students, parents and IERT volunteers to take feedback.
"The divyang students are very happy and enjoying their routine activities through digital route. The parents have expressed their gratitude towards the education department as well as the teachers for the special care and attention being provided to their children during the unprecedented crisis", said DSE, Narinder and Rajni.
