Fatehgarh Sahib. August 02, 2020: Major political break through is going to take place in historical District Fatehgarh Sahib as former SAD(B) MLA from Bassi Pathana Justice (Retd) Nirmal Singh is all set to Join SAD led by Rebel Akali leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa on 6th August along with his supporters by organizing a function at Bassi Pathana town. With the inclusion of Nirmal Singh the splinter SAD group led by Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa is likely to spread its wing in Fatehgarh Sahib District and great setback for SAD (B) as former MLA from the then Sirhind constituency Bir Devinder Singh had already joined Dhindsa group and the current Bassi Pathana constituency was part of that constituency. He has a strong base and members of his group are likely to join Dhindsa SAD.
Lakhvir Singh Lakhi former Chairman of Market Committee Bassi Pathana a strong supporter of Nirmal Singh said that a function will be organized on 6th August to be presided over by Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Nirmal Singh along with his supporters’ is likely to join his group. He said that the gathering will be limited keeping in view the COVID guidelines.
It is worth mentioning that Nirmal Singh remained MLA from Bassi Pathana and his native village Rampur falls in the district. He had undertaken various development projects in the constituency and was widely respected. He was denied ticket by SAD (B) and shifted to Chamkaur Sahib and Badals planted their own confidant Darbara Singh Guru Retd IAS. His former MP wife Paramjit Kaur Gulshan had already joined the Dhindsa group.
It is speculated that Dhindsa group is also eying the third constituency Amloh falling in the district as a target. After the joining of the Talwandi family Dhindsa SAD may rope in a leading Akali family of the district and may make the member of that family as in charge of Amloh constituency and secondly Dhindsa is also in touch with the family of Late Capt. Kanwaljit Singh former Finance Minister, which belongs to Salana village falling in Amloh constituency and has a strong base.
