Technical Education Minister Channi lauds efforts of students and staff, issues appreciation letter to 148 girl students and 13 ITIs
Chandigarh, August 04, 2020: The Punjab ITI students have made a remarkable contribution in the fight against COVID-19 under Mission Fateh in the state by making 17 lac masks and stands tall in this effort as no other technical education institute of any state of the country is even closer to this number. The Punjab Technical Education Department today organized a webinar to applaud the efforts of the students and staff for this great work in the fight against COVID-19. The material for making masks was arranged free of cost form various social orgainistions and the masks made by students have been distributed free to the needy poor people, labourers, NGOs, social organizations, ,civil and police administration and to the frontline corona warriors i.e nurses and other hospital staff.
The Technical Education Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi addressing the students through the webinar said that our ITI girl students have made the state proud in the whole country leading by example during this crisis period of corona pandemic. He said that our students have once again proved that when it comes to serving the country in any crisis situation the Punjabis are real leaders. He said that the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has also congratulated the technical education department and students for this achievement.
Mr. Channi also stressed that in the modern industrial era only the degree does not matter but the skill is equally important to make Youth employable. Therefore the Punjab Government has decided to introduce the new skill based syllabus in the technical education institutes as per the needs of the modern day industry. He further said that ITIs of the state would be modernized in a phased manner in coordination with the industry so that the students get easily employed.
Mr. Anurag Verma Principal Secretary, Technical Education Department briefed that the 148 ITI girl students have been hounoured who made 1500 masks each and 13 ITI principles were also honoured who have prepared 25000 masks per institute. He said that appreciation letters have been sent to the best performer Principles and students of ITIs. He also said that such noble causes by the department would continue till we win the battle against COVID-19.
Mr. Kumar Saurabh Raj Director Technical Education addressing the webinar said that the technical education department is working on the ways to train our students to make N95 masks and finding out ways to arrange material for these masks. He further said that this would make N95 masks available to the people at a very low price.
Mrs. Daljit Kaur Additional Director, Technical Education moderated the webinar, welcomed and introduced all the participants.
