Arrests 98 persons, seize 5325 litres lahan, 180.6 ltr illicit & 1110.7 ltr licit liquor
MANSA, August 08, 2020: Tightening noose around the illicit liquor and drugs smugglers, the district Police led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mansa Surendra Lamba under its special drive has registered 101 first information reports (FIRs) and arrested 98 persons after recovering the heavy amount of drugs, lahan and illicit liquor.
Divulging details, SSP Surendra Lamba said that the district-wide raids as part of the crackdown on illicit/spurious liquor and drugs businesses are being conducted in order to make Punjab drug free state.
He said that after arresting 98 persons from various places from August 1 to till now, the Mansa Police have seized 2230 narcotic pills, 30 narcotic vials, 12 grams smack, 30 kg poppy husk, three working stills (apparatus used for the distillation of liquids), 5325 litres lahan, 180.660 litres illicit liquor, 1110.750 litres licit liquor and 18 litres Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL).
SSP said that cases have been registered against the arrested persons in various police stations under NDPS and investigations are on. He said that the campaign against the illicit liquor and drug smugglers will be continued under the Punjab Government’s zero-tolerance policy.
