Nawanshahr , August 12,2020: As a part of online launching of Punjab Smart Connect Scheme (Distribution of Smartphones) by Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh at all districts simultaneously today, MLA, Balachaur, Darshan Lal Mangupur, Chairman, District Planning Committee, Satvir Singh Palli Jhikki, Deputy Commissiner, Dr. Shena Aggarwal, SSP, Alka Meena, kick started the scheme symbolically in District SBS Nagar by formally handing over smartphones to as many as 15 students.
Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Shena Aggarwal said that as many as 3762 Class XII students including 1865 girls of the district would be given smart phones in phased manner under the 'Punjab Smart Connect Scheme'.
" Smart phone is no longer a luxury but has become necessity in the present era of digital revolution. During the Pandemic COVID-19, Smart Phone and the latest digital applications have been playing a key role in the execution of 'On Line Education", thus proving a boon for translating the dream of youth empowerment into reality", said the DC while adding that besides enabling the youth for availing the benefits of 'On Line Education", the Smart Phones would also provide them to tap the employment avenues during the " On Line Rojgar Melas" scheduled to be started next month.
Expressing gratitude towards the Chief Minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh and the Finance Minister, Manpreet Singh Badal on launching 'Punjab Smart Connect Scheme' on the occasion of Janam Ashtami and International Youth Day, MLA, Balachaur, Chaudhary Darshan Lal Mangupur said that they had fulfilled the election promise despite crisis in the wake of Pandemic.
The scheme would usher in a new revolution in the education system of the state as the expectations of the youth have been fulfilled . The smartphone move would play a vital role in the education of the students when the online classes are taking place due to COVID, said Chairman, District Planning Committee, Satvir Singh Palli Jhikki and Heera Khepar, District Youth Congress.
The visibly elated students - Sahil Kumar, Shivam Gupta, Abhishek, Lovepreet, Harmanjot Singh, Saurabh Saroya, Saurav Sampla, Sabar Mal, Harpreet Bangar, Hema, Aarti Gupta, Manpreet Kaur, Komal Priya, Ritika, Anjali, who received phones, said that they got these phones at a time when their online studies were in full swing but they were facing difficulties as they did not have smartphones.
District Education Officer, Sushil Kumar Tuli, Deputy District Education Officer, Amrik Singh, Parmod Bharti, Spokesperson, Education Department , Principal Sarbjit Singh, Gurdial Singh, District Social Media Coordinator, Vinay Kumar, Member, Zila Sikhiya Sudhar Team, Rimmy Bardwaj, Sohan Singh Bhangal, SAnjiv Duggal, Gurnam Dass, among others, were also present.
