Fatehgarh Sahib. August.13, 2020: Online classes of the various departments of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib have commenced using the collective use of the online platforms like that of Microsoft Teams, Google classrooms and Zoom, during the COVID-19 pandemic, said Vice-Chancellor Dr. Prit Pal Singh.
He said to create awareness about the use of various e-facilities available during the online Teaching-Learning Mode the Computer Science University organized a six-day online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) for the teaching faculty and one day student development programme (SDP) for the students to ensure that students keep learning effectively.
Dean Student Welfare Dr. Sikandar Singh said that during the student SDP, sessions were conducted to familiarize them about the effective use of available e-learning and interactive platforms. HoD Dr. Navdeep Kaur said that different online sessions of FDP were conducted by the faculty members of Department of Computer Science and experts from well-known universities and institutions, while the OP was steered by the department. She mentioned that the resource persons were Assistant Professors Er. Kamaljit Kaur and Er. Amandeep Kaur from the department along with Prof. Asha Rani, Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana, Dr. Tejinderpal Singh, Associate Professor, UBS, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Dr. Jatinder Grover, Professor, Department of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Er. Kamaljit Kaur and Er. Amandeep Kaur convenor and co-convenor of the programmes said that during various sessions experts explore technology enabled learning, about the different ICT initiatives of MHRD, different e-content production tools, Learning Management System, Microsoft Teams Platform, Google classroom, Zoom, other Interactive Digital Whiteboard Tools like Chrome Canvas and Google Jamboard that replace the traditional classroom blackboard, assignment tracking and evaluation etc.,. The technical coordinator of the SDP was Dr. Shruti Aggarwal, Assistant Professor in Department of Computer Science.
