Jalandhar, August 13, 2020: In order to initiate early treatment of symptomatic persons and those suffering from co-morbidities to minimize the loss of lives due to Covid-19 pandemic, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori directed the Health Officials to conduct COVID test of all symptomatic and those having any kind of co-morbidities in Jalandhar.
Participating in a video conference chaired by Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh to review Covid-19 preparedness in districts, the Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori along with SSP Satinder Singh, said that in surge of cases the Administration had planned to intensify the sampling for tests for early detection and treatment for corona positive cases, if any.
The Deputy Commissioner said that during door to door survey by health teams, 35000 people had been found suffering from pre-existing diseases and samples of all these persons with the compromised immune system will be taken by the teams.
He said that Jalandhar had witnessed 91 deaths of which 85 were had co-morbidities. He said that to complete the sampling within few days, sampling teams had been doubled to collect the samples.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the main pillars of the COVID preparedness strategy were segregation of micro-containment zones and screening of all those in high-risk categories to put them on treatment as soon as possible.
He emphasized that the need to trace and test of all those who had come into the contact of an infected persons within 72-hours, which could be immensely beneficial to contain the further spread of coronavirus.
He said that healthcare infrastructure was being ramped up continually in the district besides the availability of beds for the level -2 and level-3 was ensured round the clock.

Satinder Singh said that police the department had also initiated awareness drive to sensitize the people about preventive measures.
They said that drive was already being intensified against the violators who don’t wear the mask and maintain social distancing in the Jalandhar to ensure the strict compliance of medical protocols to stem the spread of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the CM Capt Amarinder Singh lauded the efforts of the district administration in this war against the novel coronavirus.
