Health Minister inaugurates construction of Six New Rooms in Civil Lines School
Students Who Scored More than 98 Percent Marks in Class XII honored With a Reward of Rs 5100 Each
Patiala, August 15, 2020: Punjab Health and Family Welfare and Labour Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that providing better education and health services in the state, was one of the top priorities of the Punjab Government under the leadership of Captain Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab.
Mr. Sidhu who was in Patiala to hoist the tricolor on the occasion of Independence Day, also got started construction work of the new block of Government Model Senior Secondary School Civil Lines. On this occasion, he also honored 14 students of the district who scored 98 Percent or above marks in Class XII by giving a reward of Rs.5100 each on behalf of State Government.
Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that although the educational institutions are currently closed due to Corona but the Captain Government has decided to provide free education to the students till Class XII. He said that this year our government schools have got better results where the pass percentage was recorded as 94.32 percentages which is due to the education department and hard working teachers.
Mr. Sidhu said that the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh had fulfilled his promise to the students of Punjab by launching 'Punjab Smart Connect Scheme' under which smartphones were distributed to the Class XII students of government schools. With this, students from poor families will now be able to get online education in the era of COVID.
The Health Minister said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, the government has launched a campaign to make the schools of the state up-to-date in all respects, under which 6 new rooms would be constructed at Civil Lines School at a cost of Rs 50 Lakh , Which will complete the school in to smart classrooms according to the number of students. Expressing happiness over the strength of 4235 students in this school, he showered appreciations for the principal of the school Dr. Varinderjit Batish and the entire staff.
The students who were honoured with checks of Rs. 5100-5100 include Asha Devi of Taipur School, Arshdeep Kaur of Oksi Saini, Saveen from Rajpura Town, Taranveer Singh from Sanour, Harjeet Kaur from Mahinder Ganj Rajpura, Sonal from Patiala old Police line, Swaranjit Kaur and Satwinder Singh from Baran, Shagunpreet Kaur from Bibipur, Khushal from Playways School, Simranjit Kaur from Retgarh, Khushleen Kaur from Basantpura, Ravneet Kaur from Nabha and Jasmeen Kaur from Narmana School.

Sharma, Mayor Municipal Corporation Mr. Sanjeev Sharma Bittu, Harkesh Chand Sharma, District Congress President Mr. K.K. Malhotra, District Women Congress President Mrs. Kiran Dhillon, Mr. Sonu Sangar, Mr. Naresh Duggal, Mr. Vijay Kuka, Mr. Sandeep Malhotra, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kumar Amit, ADC Mrs. Pooja Sayal Grewal, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Ismat Vijay Singh, SDM Mr. Charanjit Singh, District Education Officer Mrs. Harinder Kaur, Deputy DEO Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Khosla, Executive Engineer PWD Mr. S.L.
