Mumbai school student wins online poetry contest on I Day theme
Chandigarh, August 16, 2020: In an endeavor to ignite patriotic fervour among young children and to showcase the glory of the nation in a creative and youthful style, a poem recitation competition was held on the theme ‘Independence Day or Our Country’ for the children on the 74th Independence Day celebration.
The poem recitation competition was organized by a city-based theatre group ‘The Narrators Performing Arts Society’ for children in the age group between 13 to 18 years.
In the competition, 13-year-old Arnav Sharma, from Children Academy, Mumbai was announced as a winner. Arnav had himself written a Hindi poem and was clad in the Indian attire with a traditional background in a video that saw him reciting the poem.
Nisha Luthra, co-founder of The Narrators Performing Arts Society and organizer of the online event said, “The idea behind this exercise was to engage young minds in singing the glory of their nation on the 74th Independence Day celebrations. We are very glad to see the response of the young participants from different states all of who put in a remarkable effort in the competition.”
Deepak Luthra, another co-founder of ‘The Narrators Performing Arts Society’ highlighted, “Children participated in a large number from all over the country mainly from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal, Mumbai, Pune, & Hyderabad and even from Ireland. The participants sent their poem recitations in form of videos on the given theme to our official email id. The poem videos were featured on The Narrators’ social media handles and the winner got a cash prize of Rs 2500.”
The top nine contenders, who have featured on 'The Narrators social media platform were Nikasha Luthra (13), Mehak Kaur Dhillion (13) from Pinegrove School Dharampur; HP; Stakshi Khurana (13) Gurukul School, Panchkula, Yuvraj Bhojgi (12) Vibgour School, Pune; Ridhima Singla (13) Gurukul School, Panchkula; Izzy Bready (13), American Embassy School, New Delhi; Ishan Rawat (15), VPS School, Mohali; Natansh Bassi (13), Amity International School, Mohali; and Arnav Sharma (13), Children Academy, Mumbai.
