Commendable steps by 836 Gram Panchayats in fight against Corona epidemic in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, August 16, 2020: All the 836 Gram Panchayats of the district are not only playing a pivotal role in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic but have also proved to be extremely helpful to the people. Continuing the mission Fateh launched by Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, the Gram Panchayats have made several efforts to transform the war against the Kovid-19 virus into a people's movement.
Disclosing this here today ADC (Development) Ravinderpal Singh Sandhu said that in order to keep the villages infection-free, antibiotic sprays have been sprayed continuously. The Gram Panchayats had ordered 8,000 liters of fumigation spray. This spray has been sprayed three times by 237 Gram Panchayats of the district whereas this spray has been sprayed twice in 665 Gram Panchayats. This spraying is being carried out continuously to prevent the spread of the virus in rural areas.
District Development and Panchayat Officer Harjinder Singh said that many efforts have been made by the Sarpanches to help the people. The Sarpanchs have distributed 937 packets in the district to distribute medicines and rations to the needy.
He said that the Panchayats were spending Rs. 5,000 daily from the Panchayat funds for the poor and needy people under which a total of Rs.14,06,873.
Similarly 321 passes have also been issued to the people by the Panchayats in the district for emergency movement at night or during curfew so that there would be no difficulty in getting people out in times of need.
The DDPO said that a special campaign was being launched by the Panchayats to create awareness among the people about safety precautions like wearing masks, using hand sanitizer or hand washing and social distance. The announcement is being made continuously from all the religious places in the villages so that the people are aware of the security precautions.
