Chandigarh, August 16, 2020: A bio-diversity park will be developed in the Aravalli mountain range on about 100 acres of Panchayati land of village Kasan in Gurugram district, Haryana. For this, the Gram Panchayat has passed a resolution in the Gram Sabha. Forests, Education and Tourism Minister, Kanwar Pal visited the village and the area where the proposed park will be developed.
Kanwar Pal also visited the already developed Biodiversity Park in the area of Municipal Corporation near village Nathupur while coming from Faridabad to Gurugram. He also visited the Mangar Bani reserved forest area.
After planting saplings in the proposed Biodiversity Park area in village Kasan, Forest Minister then attended a program organized by the forest department in the temple complex located nearby and interacted with the Sarpanches of the selected villages over the issue of increasing greenery in these villages. He also invited suggestions from the Sarpanches. He appreciated the initiative taken by the Kasan village and said that other villages in this district should also come forward to develop gardens on their Panchayati land.
He further informed that the Haryana Government has approved the development of gardens on Panchayati land. This will not only increase the green cover in the area and improve the environment but the groundwater level will also rise and enhance Panchayat income too. He informed that gardens are being developed on about 1000 acres of land in districts of North Haryana like Karnal, Yamunanagar, and Panchkula, etc.
Forest Minister said that all of us should take responsibility for planting saplings, growing them and taking care of them and for this full cooperation will be given by the Forest Department. Although the Forest Department can develop nurseries to provide plants, give information about plant care, but it is also the responsibility of the people to plant more and more trees.
Later, addressing the media persons, Mr. Kanwar Pal said that Haryana has a 3 percent reserve forest, which now has been targeted to be increased to 20 percent. For this, 125 million saplings will be planted in the
State this year and 1100 villages of the State have been selected for this plantation.
