Balachaur, August 16, 2020: Darshan Lal Mangupur, MLA, Balachaur inaugurated the Gocernment Sr. Sec. School, Bhaddi, situated in remote Kandi area in the district, which has been converted into ' Smart School' by the Education Department with the joint dedicated efforts by the teachers, NGO Khawayeesh Sewa Society, NRIs and community coupled with the government grants from time to time.
Lauding the efforts of the teachers, panchayat, philanthropists for sprucing up the infrastructral facilities as well as improvement in quality of education, the MLA, Darshan Lal Mangupur, said that under the " Sikhiya Sudhar Muhim" ( Qualitative Improvement Drive), launched by the Punjab government three years ago, the government schools have been equipped with better infrastructural facilities as well as easy, interesting , effective and innovative teaching-learning methodologies. At present, the Government Schools in Punjab have been performing far better than the private schools in terms of Board results , increase in enrollment and above all providing quality on line education through TV / Radio, google classrooms, Whats App and other latest digital applications during the pandemic COVID-19. The CM, Capt. Amarinder Singh has started distribution of Smart Phones to the students. It would further help the students to avail the benefits of " On Line Education" facility being provided by the Education Department.
While attributing the miraculous transformation of the government schools to the concerted and consistent efforts of the government, school teachers and community, Mangupur said that the positive change could be gauged from the fact that now the result of Government Sr. Sec.School, Bhaddi was cent percent, while during the previous years, the school had been showing poor results.
District Education Officer(SE), Sushil Kumar Tuli and Principalcum District Smart School Mentor, Rajnish Kumar, said that about 90 percent government schools had been converted into smart schools. Due to COVID-19, the pace of development work had slowed down. The remaining schools would also be converted into smart schools soon to achieve the cent percent target. Besides, the projectors in class rooms of as many as 61 upper primary and 79 primary schools and new computer labs in as many as 53 schools had been installed to facilitate digital education in the district. Despite odd situation due to COVID-19, 26 per cent enrollment in primary and 10 per cent increase in enrollment in secondary level has been achieved in the district.
While village Sarpanch, Geeta Devi, announced to provide modern facilities for sports, the retired school principal, Aruna Pathak donated a sum of Rs.31000/- for the school development on the occasion. MLA, Darshan Lal Mangupur also assured to provide adequate grants for the school development.
Principal Gurpreet Singh, SMC, Chairman, Baldev Chauhan, Block Samiti Member, Baldev Raj, Nand Lal, Balwant Rai Rana, Om Parkash, Youth Congress president, Heera Khepar, among others, were present on the occasion.
