Provides 4200 jobs in Health Department to fight COVID-19, says Finance Minister
Finance Minister inaugurates beautiful park build at a cost of Rs. 1.25 crore in Patti city
Also announces grant of Rs. 35 lakh for construction of modern library and Rs. 50 lakh for construction of another park in Patti
Tarn Taran, August 17, 2020: Punjab Government would spend Rs. 15 crore on harnessing the huge potential of Harike wetland by making it a tourism hub. This was stated by the Punjab Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal today after inaugurating a beautiful park constructed at a cost of Rs.1.25 crore in Patti city.
On the occasion, Member of Parliament Mr. Jasbir Singh Gill (Dimpa), MLA Mr. Harminder Singh Gill, Deputy Comissioner Mr. Kulwant Singh, SSP Mr. D.H. Nimble and Chairman District Planning Committee Mr. Jagtar Singh Burj were also present.
Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal said that it was the part of this year budget to develop Harike wetland as a tourism hub and Rs. 15 crore has been earmarked for this purpose. After the monsoon season, the work would soon be started on it, he added.
On the question of recruitment for government job, the Finance Minister said that Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has already announced to provide 50,000 jobs in government sector in the upcoming year. Apart from this, the state government has filled 4200 posts in Health Department to tackle COVID-19 pandemic, besides filling the 1500 posts in Medical Education Department.
On the question of illegal mining in the state, Mr. Badal said that Punjab has earned more than Rs. 300 crore revenue from the mining during Congress party's regime, which was stand at Rs. 20 crore during SAD-BJD Government. He made it clear that illegal mining would not be allowed in Punjab at any cost and strict action would be taken against those found indulged in the illegal practice.
Replying to a query on the issue of S. Y. L., Finance Minister said that he has full faith in the Indian Constitution. He expressed hope that there would be no injustice to Punjab on this issue.
On the demand of MLA Mr. Harminder Singh Gill, the Finance Minister also announced a grant of Rs. 35 lakh for the construction of a modern library and Rs. 50 lakh for the construction of another park in Patti.
Thanking the Finance Minister for his generous financial support, Mr. Harminder Singh Gill said that Patti would be developed as a model constituency. He further informed that a Law University was being constructed on 25 acres at Kairon village and academic session would be start soon. The work of laying sewerage in 35 villages of Vidhan Sabha constituency Patti is under progress.
Calling people to come forward to save the environment, Khadoor Sahib MP Mr. Jasbir Singh Gill said that this kind park is a need of the hour to provide a clean and natural place for people to walk and workout to stay fit and healthy.
