Not a single drop of water with Punjab, already facing threat of turning into a desert
AAP terms SYL as anti-riparian and anti-Punjab project
Chandigarh, August 18, 2020: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Assembly Harpal Singh Cheema on Tuesday said the MLAs, ministers and top government officers tested positive for Corona virus, should be treated at government hospitals and Corona care centres in the state, like any other citizen, demanding special guidelines in this regard.
Giving his reaction on SYL, Harpal Cheema said “The Badal family, Raja Amarinder Singh and the traditional political parties, including Congress, Akali Dal (Badal) and BJP ruling the roost were squarely responsible for the SYL botch up and took turns in leveraging it for grabbing ‘power’ in the state”
In a statement issued to the media from party headquarters in Chandigarh on Tuesday, Harpal Singh said that the cabinet minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar, deputy speaker Ajaiv Singh Bhatti, MLAs Manpreet Singh Ayali, Nazan Singh Mansahia, and IAS and IPS Officers and other VIPs, who had been tested positive for Corona, should be treated at government hospitals and corona care centres, like others citizen undergoing treatment there.
Cheema said “While I pray for the fast recovery of all MLAs, ministers and bureaucrats undergoing treatment for Covid-19, it was necessary to treat them along with common patients at government hospitals and corona care centres, to reinstate their trust that they (Ministers) are being treated at private hospitals while they are taken to the rundown govt corona care centres for treatment, where besides food, medicine and other facilities do not exist worth the name”
Cheema held the rundown hospitals and corona care centres responsible for the suicides, allegedly committed by a peasant at Mansa and a businessman at Amritsar hospital, seeking a judicial probe under the watch of a high court judge in a time frame.
On the issue of SYL, Harpal Cheema alleged that the open ‘loot’ of the Punjab river waters, the depleting level of ground water, saying it was set to turn into a desert in the times to come, leaving it with not a single drop of water to spare. He said the AAP would resist any move to save the Punjab waters.
