Fatehgarh Sahib, August 19, 2020: Bhagwan Parshu Ram Chair set up at Punjabi University Patiala after a great struggle is on the verge of closure due to the paucity of funds, which is a matter of great concern for the Brahmin Community of the State. The State government should immediately release the funds as promised, so that the research work on Bhagwan Parshu Ram may continue, said Devi Dayal Prashar State President Shri Brahmin Sabha Punjab, while addressing the media here today. He had come to preside over the meeting of the State executive Committee and to monitor the election of district president.
He said that after great struggle the then Cm Parkash Singh Badal had conceded the demands of Shri Brahman Sabha Punjab and declared holiday on the eve of Bhagwan Parshu Ram jyanti and to set up a Chair at Punjabi University Patiala. He said that the Chair was set up with eight faculty members, but now only two are left as due to non payment of salaries rest have been relieved and if the same situation continues the remaining two will also lose their jobs. He said that few students are doing PHD and they will suffer. He said that moreover Capt. Government also withdrew the holiday of Bhagwan Parshu Ram Jyanti. He urged the Brahmin Ministers, MLAs and Congress leaders to take up the issue with the Chief Minister, so that the resentment among the Brahmin Community may be eased out. He said that Brahmins supported and voted enmass for the Congress party during the Assembly elections but they did not get their due rather suffered at the hands of Congress government.
On this occasion Varinder Rattan of Sirhind was unanimously elected as District President of Shri Brahmin Sabha. Varinder Rattan is presently Chairman of Brahmin Sabha Sirhind and District President of Beopar Mandal Fatehgarh Sahib. He is a renowned social worker, who always stood for the downtrodden section of society and for the cause of economically weaker Brahmin Samaj. He is known in the area for his selfless service. He assured the Brahmin Sabha that he will come true to their expectations and thanked all for reposing faith in him.
