Making it clear that his government was fully prepared for the paddy procurement, as it had been for wheat, the Chief Minister said bringing the grain to the Mandis early would be detrimental as it would simply lie around there till it gets picked up. Harvest and bring the grain only when it is ripe, he urged the farmers, while responding to a question by a Samrala resident during today’s edition of #AskCaptain on Facebook Live.
To a request from an Amritsar resident for restarting special flights to take Punjab’s vegetables to different parts of the country, and to tie up with industries for direct procurement as he had done during his previous term as chief minister, Captain Amarinder said he would surely be looking into it.

economy was totally based on Dairy Farming and Agriculture, there was need to teach these subjects scientifically. He said he will write to the Center to include these in curriculum in the curriculum for classes 11 and 2. He further said his government will also go through the new education policy to explore the options.

On a GNDU SC student’s complaint of the university refusing to give DMCs and Degrees till the government pays their fee to the university, the Chief Minister said he will take up the issue with the Centre and meanwhile, will ask the Vice Chancellor to issue the degrees after taking indemnity bonds as the money was being transferred directly to students and they were paying to the varsity under the GoI’s scheme of Post Matric Scholarship for SCs, which has now been discontinued. The funds-crunched state government, which had been left to bear the entire burden of about Rs 780 crore to continue with the scheme, was trying to find a viable solution, he said, adding that he will not let SC students suffer on this account.
On a Mansa ex-serviceman’s complaint of lack of facilities in Jagtaar village despite paying all municipal taxes, the Chief Minister said the genesis of the problem lay in the decisions of the erstwhile Akali government, which had ruined Punjab’s villages due to indiscriminate conversion of village areas to urban areas in Bathinda and Mansa districts, thus depriving them of various grants. It was possible that the area mentioned was actually urban since municipal taxes were being collected on it, he said, adding that his government was now in the process of releasing grants to the municipal committees.
