District Ludhiana records 4344 samples in one day

Ludhiana, August 23, 2020 : As part of its initiatives to control the spread of COVID 19 pendemic, The health department today took maximum number of 4344 samples of suspected patients in a single day in District Ludhiana. Apart from this, the rate of recovery from this disease in the district has also increased, which is a good sign.
Disclosing this here today Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Sharma said that day and night efforts are being made by all the doctors, community health officers and other para medical staff of the health department under the supervision of SDMs to control the spread of the disease. Patient samples are being taken. Under which the highest number of 4344 samples were taken in one day today, which is a record. He commended all the SDMs and the health department for this new record.
He said that the residents should not panic as the district administration and health department was working 24 hours a day for the safety of the residents. He said that under the 'Mission Fateh' of the Punjab government, the number of patients recovering from Covid-19 disease in District Ludhiana was steadily increasing.
He said that out of the total 8679 patients, 72.5% (6292 covid positive patients) have fully recovered while many others are undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals. He appealed to the residents not to panic at all as covid is a completely curable disease. "People should get themselves tested for covid immediately whenever they feel they have covid-like symptoms," he said. He said that the time between the detection and examination of the symptoms is very important, but when people do not get themselves tested despite the symptoms, sometimes their health deteriorates, which leads to unfortunate incidents.
He said that many testing centers have been started in the city for the welfare of the residents. He said that the covid tests are done free of cost in the government centers and if any one has any symptoms related to corona then he should go to the nearest test center without any delay and get checked immediately.
He said that the number of samples taken daily for the welfare of the residents was being further increased. He said that the district administration and the health department have been making efforts to ensure that whenever any person is found to be a victim or suspect of covid-19, samples are immediately sent for testing. The number of these samples is in the hundreds daily. Similarly, samples of 4344 suspects have been sent for investigation today and their results are expected soon.
The Deputy Commissioner said that at present there are 2072 positive patients in the district. The number of recovered patients in the district so far has reached 6292.
He said that all possible efforts were being made to keep the people safe from covid-19. He said that during the last 24 hours a total of 189 patients (171 new patients from District Ludhiana and 18 other states / districts) have tested positive.
He said that so far a total of 104297 samples have been taken out of which 99185 samples have been reported, 89629 samples have been found negative and 5112 samples are yet to be reported. He said that now the total number of patients related to Ludhiana is 8679 while 877 patients belong to other districts / states.
He said that unfortunately today there were 9 deaths related to Ludhiana district. At present, the total number of deaths due to corona is 312 from Ludhiana and 69 from other districts.
He said that so far 31077 persons have been quarantined in their homes in the district whereas at present 5441 persons have been quarantined. Even today, 465 people have been housed in their homes.
Mr. Sharma appealed to the residents that now that we are going through the peak period, more precautions need to be taken. They should follow all the instructions of the Punjab Government and if they stay indoors they will not only be safe but also contribute to the safety of everyone.
