Parambans S Romana says govt owes Rs 1.05 lakh to each unemployed youth as unemployment allowance and asked it to transfer the same to the youth immediately
Chandigarh, August 24, 2020: The Youth Akali Dal (YAD) today announced it would ‘gherao’ chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh as well as all Congress ministers and demand implementation of all promises made to the youth.
Speaking on this issue, YAD President Parambans Singh Romana said in the first phase of the agitation, YAD activists would ‘gherao’ the chief minister whenever he stepped out of his farm house and visited Punjab. He said the youth would remind him of the all the promises made to them as well as to the people of the State by taking a holy vow on the Gutka Sahab. “We will follow this up with ‘gherao’ of all Congress ministers whenever they step out of their houses. We will show the party manifestos to them and ask them why they are not implementing the promises made to the youth of Punjab”.
Mr Parambans Romana said the YAD was constrained to take this action because after nearly four years in power, the Congress government had not fulfilled a single promise made to the youth. He said the Congress party had promised a job in each household in Punjab under the ‘ghar ghar naukari’ scheme. He said as per this scheme the government should create 52 lakh jobs to cover each household in the State. Mr Romana said even now the Congress government was trying to befool the people with advertisements today promising youth 90,000 jobs next month. He said these jobs were in fact private sector opportunities which the government was trying to claim as their own.
The YAD President said the truth was that the government had neither offered any government jobs in the last four years nor offered unemployment allowance of Rs 2,500 per month to the youth. He said besides this the Congress manifesto had promised unemployed youth to all youth who had passed the matric examination and were between the age of 18 and 34 years. “The government owes Rs 1.05 lakh to each youth under this head and we will gherao the chief minister and the ministers and demand the money be deposited in the accounts of the youth immediately”.
Saying the ‘Saade haq aithe rakh’ agitation would also cover other promises made to the youth, the YAD President the Congress party had also promised to facilitate youth to get one lakh taxis under the ‘apni gaddi apna rozgar’ scheme. He said similarly youth were also promised tractors under the Hara Tractor scheme in easy installments. He said youth were also promised Rs five lakh loans with thirty per cent subsidy under the Yaari Enterprises scheme. “We will ask the chief minister and the ministers to tell youth why none of these schemes had been implemented till now”.
The youth leader said even scheduled caste students were bearing the brunt of the Congress government’s insensitivity towards the people of the State. He said the government was not releasing Rs 309 crore received from the centre on account of SC scholarship leading to great hardship among scheduled caste students. He said due to this as many as 1.80 lakh SC students had dropped out from higher studies after the government stopped implementation of the SC scholarship scheme.
