Chandigarh, August 24, 2020: Adhering to safety protocol in view of COVID-19 pandemic, Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana KP Singh has decided to notify Punjab Bhawan, Sector-3, Chandigarh as an extended Precinct of the House for the press coverage of the 12th session of 15th Punjab Vidhan Sabha. This decision was taken in a meeting presided over by the Speaker.
The Speaker said that COVID-19 test will be compulsory for all the journalists, who will cover the session and a special camp will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on August 25-26 at Punjab Bhawan, Sector-3, Chandigarh for the journalists. Journalist with negative report in the test will only be allowed to enter the Punjab Bhawan premises.
Divulging the details after the meeting, an official spokesperson of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha said that only one cameraman and a journalist from each TV channel would be permitted outside the hall at Punjab Bhawan. Live streaming of the session would be provided in the hall, where no camera/mobile phone will be allowed. He also said that Punjab Vidhan Sabha members can hold the press conference in open area of the Punjab Bhawan.
The spokesperson of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha said that only one journalist from an organization is permitted for the coverage. Journalists have to fill the form with due recommendation of the Editor/Bureau Chief of the concerned organization and submit it by August 25, 2020 by 12 noon for the recommendation of PVS Press Gallery Committee.
