Farmers protest against controversial farm Bills in Punjab continued for 9th day
Ferozepur, October 2, 2020: The farmer protest today entered 9th day demanding the withdrawal three Farm Bills and to register their protest, thousands of farmers burnt the effigies of all the three major political parties – BJP, Akali Dal and Congress, on the rail tracks at Basti Tankan Wali.
The Kissan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee had given a call for rail roko against the passing of three ordinances and sitting on the railway tracks permanently at Amritsar and Ferozepur since October 23 with support of 31 farmer organizations. Later on, the Bill has been stamped by the President of India.
Number of trade and employees unions has also come forward in support of the farmers.
As precautionary measures, to avoid any inconvenience to the passengers and loss of any government property, the special passengers trains in Ferozepur have already been withdrawn till further orders in the wake of farmers agitation. The Bills are facing staunch opposition from farmer bodies as well as from within the ruling coalition recently with the resignation of Harsimrat Badal and withdrawing of alliance by the SAD.
Talking about the Rahul Gandhi visit to Punjab, he said, it is just to soften the struggle of the farmers.
Accusing the political parties to torpedo the farmers agitation to support in favour of corporate houses, Satnam Singh Pannu, State President addressing the massive protest said, appealed to the people of Punjab to turn a blind eye to these agents of corporate houses , they are just to encash the vote of the farmers and have nothing to do with the real problems of the peasantry.
Farmers got support from 31 farmer outfits in this joint protest and once again appealed to boycott the products of corporate houses to support the demand of the farmers to withdraw the three farm Bills.
