Chandigarh, October 30, 2020: All India Bank Officers Confederation (Punjab) has requested Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to declare October 31 a holiday on the occasion of Maharishi Balmiki Jayanti.
The association says that holidays for ‘Mahashivratri’, ‘Ram Navami and ‘Janamasthmi’ have been included in the Notification No. 6/5/2019-2PP3/1199 dated 23.12.2019 issued by Punjab Government vide which Public Holidays under Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 have been declared for 2020, “but some important religious days have been overlooked by the department while issuing the above notification”.
The association has sought the intervention of the CM to advise the concerned department of Punjab Government to arrange to issue notification declaring 31st October, 2020 as a holidayunder Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 in the state of Punjab.
