Railways celebrate Constitution Day at historical station Sultanpur Lodhi
Ferozepur, November 26, 2020: 71st anniversary of Constitution Day was held today at the historical station at Sultanpur Lodhi railway station and at the divisional headquarters and put wiser the officers and employees about the fundamental rights and duties enshrined in the Constitution of India by Rajesh Aggarwal, Divisional Rail Manager, Ferozepur Division.
Constitution Day also known as National Law Day, is celebrated in India on 26 November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26 January 1950.
On this occasion, a ‘nukkad natak’ was also held at Sultanpur Lodhi railway station.
DRM informed that during the last year, 550th Parkash Parv of Sri Guru Nanak Dev was successfully celebrated at Sultanpur Lodhi which got recognition at the international level. This year too, 551th Parkash Parv is being celebrated for which all preparations have been completed. He said that Sri Guru Nanak spread the message of ‘Ek Omkar’ and made us free from the shackles of superstition, caste system and Sati – practice.
He said, there are 11 fundamental duties - respect the Constitution, harmony, security of country, respect for women, cultural heritage preservation, protection of national assets, scientific ideology, educational opportunities, environmental protection, humanitarian activities cherish the ideals of excellence and independence. He said, “Let us make the country great by adhering to the fundamental rights”.
DRM said, the day was celebrated with a variety of activities in Ferozepur Division by holding conference, web seminars on duties of citizens, quiz, debate competition etc. The passengers were also distributed posters and brochures at all the stations and offices in the division depicting the Constitutional values. He said, ‘Foreword written’ special kiosks will be set up in the premises of the offices. He appealed to railwaymen to load their record pledges on their social media like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social media means.
Various officers of the divisional office were present who strictly followed the Covid-19 protocols.
