SGPC announces financial assistance to families of farmers who lost their kin during agitation

Amritsar, December 4, 2020: The newly appointed Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur in her first executive meeting here on Friday announced to give Rs. 1 lakh financial help to seven families who lost their kin during the Kissan Sangarsh at the Delhi border.
Addressing the press conference here today, Kaur said that SGPC was always committed to extending all kinds of possible help to the farmers’ community struggling at the Delhi border against the injustice done by the Union Government.
"SGPC would provide makeshift toilets for females who were protesting with farmers on war footing level to facilitate them to answer the call of nature. On December 7, all historic Gurdwaras under SGPC would organize prayer ceremony for one hour for the well being of farmers," she said.
Welcoming the decision of former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal, former Akali minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and some other politicians including sportsperson to return ‘Honor’ conferred by the Indian Government in protest to extend support to farmers agitation.
Bibi Jagir Kaur further urged the Union government to annul the three farm bill ordinance to save the farmer's community.
Kaur also criticized the remarks made by Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut on an elderly Sikh woman participating in an ongoing protest.
