Vijay Inder Singla inaugurates first of its kind biodiversity park in Bhawanigarh
Park developed on wasteland of MC by spending Rs 1.18 crore: Cabinet minister
Sangrur, December 5, 2020: School Education and PWD minister Punjab Vijay Inder Singla today inaugurated the first of its kind biodiversity park in Bhawanigarh. Once a wasteland used as dump yard, the park spreading across 2.2 acres belongs to municipal committee Bhawanigarh and now has been developed by Forest Division Sangrur with an expenditure of 1.18 crore following the directions of Vijay Inder Singla.
The cabinet minister has taken up the issue of development of bio-diversity park with ACS Forest Ravneet Kaur and PCCF (HOFF), Department of Forest and Wildlife Preservation, Punjab Jitendra Sharma, which resulted in development of first of its kind park in Bhawanigarh.
While addressing the simple gathering, Singla said that the park has been developed as a symbolism of Biodiversity Conservation with more than 165 species of plants. He added that the park has been divided into ten zones where 25 species of medicinal plants , 30 different types of Native trees, 58 species of cactus, 40 species of shrubs and flowering plants, 4 species of palm, 5 species of bamboo and 3 species of Pine have been planted.
The cabinet minister informed that the park also includes walking trail, open gym, childrens’ corner, Amphitheater and Indoor plant gallery. He said that it has been developed with an aim of public awareness creation on Healthy life and preservation of plants for healthy environment. He added that the park will be handed over to the municipal committee for operation and maintenance.
