Railways issue fresh plan for 16 trains in Punjab falling under Ferozepur Rail Divison
Ferozepur, December 8, 2020: Amid the ongoing protests by farmers in Punjab over the rollback of three Farm Laws, the Northern Railway authorities have extended cancellation, short termination and diversion of 16 trains in Punjab falling under Ferozepur Rail Division.
The Kisan Mazdoor Sangarsh Committee – KMSC – have still blocked the railway track at Jandiala Guru railway station about 10 km from Amritsar and the trains to and from Amritsar are being diverted via Beas, Tarn Taran and Bhagtanwala.
The farmers are protesting peacefully in Punjab since October 23, starting from the rail-roko protest and now in Delhi for the last more than 10 days, by sleeping on different borders of Delhi in the chilling cold. They are up in arms and determined to come back only after winning the battle of withdrawing the Farm Bills by the Centre government that will put them in the hands of big corporates. The talks between the farmers and Modi government have failed despite five rounds of meetings. Now a Bharat Bandh call was given for today which has got a response from one and all in support of the farmers. The farmer’s outfits have demanded a word from the government Yes or No over withdrawal of Farm Laws. On the other hand, the Centre government is adamant to do amendments as per the discussions across the table but will not withdraw the Bills.
