Fatehgarh Sahib : Sukhbir Singh Badal shown black flags, turbans tossed in scuffle

Fatehgarh Sahib, December 28, 2020 : Sukhbir Singh Badal, President SAD(B) had to face the wrath of the youths, farmers joined by the Sangat at historical Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib today evening, where he had come to pay obeisance to younger Sahibjadas after the conclusion of Jor Mela.
Though he was supporting the cause of farmers and lashing out at the Modi Government and Congress leaders of the State, while addressing the media in the guest house of Gurudwara, but outside the press meet venue the protesters started raising slogans against him and the Modi government. He was briefed by his security and local police personnel about the incident and he was hurriedly escorted to his car and whisked away from the backside gate of the Gurudwara safely but on the way protesters chased his vehicles and raised slogans and showed black flags.
As soon as Sukhbir Badal left the Gurudwara Jagdeep Singh Cheema District President SAD(B), who along with the other leaders of SAD(B) was present there had a scuffle with the protesters. He was also manhandled and pushed but the police saved the situation from taking ugly turn.
Addressing the media Sukhbir Badal lashed out at the Modi government as well as the Congress leaders particularly Ravneet Singh Bittu and Jasbir Singh Dimpla Gill MPs for making unplesentary statements against the farmers just to get media publicity. He said PM Modi is behaving like a dictator and he must resolve the farmer’s issue immediately by repealing the black farm laws. He said if the farmer’s don’t want these laws then why is he so keen to implement these. He said it is an open secret that these laws are for corporate not farmers.
When contacted Jagdeep Singh Cheema, District President SAD(B) refused to comment on the issue and said he is fine.
When asked the protesters why they are protesting and opposing Sukhbir Badal as he is supporting their cause, they said that Akalis are hand in glove with BJP and they were part of the government when these laws were made.
SSP Fatehgarh Sahib Amneet Kondal said that police had made elaborate security arrangements for the visit of Sukhbir Badal. She said it was police who pushed the protesters and provided safe passage. She said there was no known face of the farmer’s union from the area among protesters, they were mostly youths who were protesting. She said the police are fully alert and the situation is under control.
