MLA Hardyal Singh Kamboj visits Quarantine Centre for Children set up at SOS Children’s Village, Rajpura
Rajpura, January 5, 2021: The quarantine centre for Children at SOS Children’s Village, Rajpura, was inaugurated by our MLA, Hardyal Singh Kamboj and Khushdil Singh (SDM, Rajpura) in presence of Ms. Harpreet Kaur (District Child Protection Officer, Patiala), Ms. Roopwant Kaur (Child Protection Officer-Inst.) and other district-level functionaries.
Stepping forward to address the current pandemic situation and owing to child care and development, SOS Children’s Village, Rajpura has established quarantine centre for children which is first of it’s kind in state exclusive for children who falls under categories like Children whose family have been affected with COVID and are in need of care and protection, Children identified for short stay by CWC/ Govt. Authorities, If any children of our own institution (i.e. SOS) is showing any symptom of COVID
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Some of the essential steps to avoid the spread of COVID-19 is as- Washing hand by soap on regular intervals, Sanitize hands on regular intervals, Use face-mask and Maintain Social Distancing
Alike many other states, Punjab is also affected with COVID-19 pandemic. Many men, women and children are suffering with this disease and even suffered with life threats as well.
Although, Government has taken several initiatives to protect people from COVID infections and also making sincere efforts to improve and provide better health care to affected people. Despite all kind of efforts, numbers of COVID positive cases have reached to 167219 with 3361 active cases and 5376 numbers of deaths reported as on 04.01.2021 (Source: COVA App – Govt. of Punjab).
It has also caused vulnerable situation for some of the children who are in nuclear family set-up and unfortunately their parents have been affected with COVID. In some of the cases, no-one left out there to take care of young children in case of parents suffering with COVID.
Santosh Singh, Assistant Village Director said, We felt very honored that honorable MLA and SDM spent ample amount of time in the institution to understand our work in depth. They visited a “Family Home” and took a round of campus before inaugurating the quarantine centre.
