Tikri Border (Delhi), January 06, 2021 - The continuous rain has failed to dampen the spirits of the farmers who are present along with their tractor and trolleys at a flyover in Bahadurgarh here. The farmers claimed that the sudden climatic change did not affect their protest and also they are ready to face the rains in the coming days as they have proper arrangements for the same.
Harmeet Dhillon (40), a farmer from Ganganagar in Rajasthan, said, "The rainfall of last night did not bother us as we have covered our trolley and tent with multiple tarpaulins and papers. We were already prepared to face the problems like this and a rainfall cannot weaken our agitation."
Another farmer, Balwinder Singh (56) of Bhotna village in Barnala said, "We will not backoff from this stage now. No matter what, the climate as well as the central government are not in our favour but we are ready to clear all the hurdles. I swore of my children that I would not return to my village until our demands are met.``
On the other side, the women who are sitting at the protest near Tikri border, are maintaining their daily schedule just like their homes.
Beant Kaur of Barnala district said, "We are following the same schedule that we used to follow at our homes. We are keeping ourselves busy in making food and washing clothes for the males. The environment around us is just like our homes now. We are not facing any kind of inconvenience here. All the protesters are like my family. We have made up our minds that we will not take a step back now."
Some farmers also said that they will boycott the political leaders who betrayed them. Karoda Singh of Bhotna village in Barnala, who is also a diabetic patient since 2009 said, I had supported Congress as well as Akali Dal but now the real face of both the parties has come out. We have decided to ban the entry of the leaders of these parties in our villages."
Mahinder Singh, a farmer of Sangrur district said that they would definitely win this fight and his children also motivated them for the same. "My son is looking after our house as well as farming. If the protest will last for over an year, I am still ready for this, said Mahinder Singh.
