Jagtar Singh started his journey on January 4 from his village and peddled over 375 kilometres on his cycle with a bundle of clothes to reach Singhu border today. Jagtar Singh said he has no land and he works as a labourer in the lands. He said, " came here to support the farmers as well as the labourers. I chosen cycle to motivate others. I will not return until our demands are met."
He added that he had to cut his leg following infection around 25 years ago. After that, Jagtar spent many years to learn the task of bending the iron road with throat. "I can bend the iron rod with the force of my throat. I used to perform this task in the village tournaments for earning money, " said Jagtar.
Gurnam Singh said that he lost his right elbow in 1993 when it accidentally got crushed by the thresher. He owns two acres of land and hardly earns through the crops for his bread and butter. "The three laws passed by the central government will indirectly kill the small farmers like me. We are here to oppose these laws and we will return to our villages only after the government repeals them," he added.
