Tikri Border (Delhi), January 09, 2021 - Several renowned artistes today reached Tikri Border to raise their voice in support of the farmers, who are protesting against the three agricultural ordinances.
Artistes including Harbhajan Mann, Kanwar Grewal, Jazzy B, Rabbi Shergill, Harf Cheema, Sawara Bhaskar and Arya Babbar got united today under a special campaign 'Artists for farmers' and took jibes on the central government. The artists supported the on-going agitation of the farmers through their songs and poems and chanted various slogans against the Modi government. The artists also paid the tribute to the farmers, who died in this agitation.
The program was conducted at the stage of United Farmers Front Delhi at the Tikri Border at around 2.30 pm on the 45th day of the massive protest.
Speaking from the stage, Punjabi singer and actor, Harbhajan Mann said, "I salute each protester here who made it a huge protest. I appeal to all the Punjabi artists to come in support of the farmers agitation" while adding that "This is a protest of Kisan religion where Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims are together."
Bollywood actor Arya Babbar said, "Our prime minister is regularly tweeting about US president but not paying any heed towards our farmers, who are dying here."
Sawara Bhaskar said that every citizen of our country, whether a rich or a poor, has survival with 'roti' that comes from the fields of the farmers. "I feel the farmer is a father who serves food to us and we should respect them first,"said Bhaskar.
Punjabi singer Jazzy B said, "The whole world is supporting the agitation of farmers and we will win this fight soon. I salute the protesters who are not having 'zameen' but are having 'zameer' and that is most important.
Punjabi singers Kanwar Grewal and Harf Cheema appealed to the protesters to maintain discipline during the agitation and said that they will celebrate only after winning this fight. "This protest brings a massive change in the community and it should be maintained like this. Farmers have suffered a lot but still they have not lost the stability," said Kanwar Grewal and Harf Cheema.
