Farmers observe Mahila Kisan Diwas as stir agastin 3-Farm Laws enters 55th day
Ferozepur, January 18, 2021: Despite multiple rounds of talks between the farmers and government, which remained inconclusive, the farmers are adamant on continuing their agitation as the protest against the 3-Farm Laws entered 55th day when the farmers also observed ‘Mahila Kisan Diwas’ or Women Farmers’ Day.
It is added that the central government has brought three new agricultural laws -- The Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act 2020, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Price Assurance and Agricultural Services Agreement Act 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act -- with the aim to reform the farm sector and allied sectors amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
In the meantime, the Supreme Court has put a stay on these laws and formed a committee of experts to examine the matter. But, these arrangements, are not acceptable to the farmers and want the solution through talks with the government which stands fixed for January 19.
Today, under the banner of Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee – KMSC, at number of villages of the district in eight Zones – Guruharsahai, Jhoke Tehal Singh, Mamdot, Ferozepur, Makhu, Mallanwala, Zira 1 and 2, the farmers and women labourers the effigies of Modi government were burnt and shouted slogans against International Monetary Fund- IMF and World Trade Organization-WTO.
The programme was aimed to honour women for their incredible contribution in the protest and work of women’s groups in their field.
Addressing the protesters, Inderjit Singh Bath, District President, Rana Ranbir Singh Thatha, District Vice President and Sukhwant Singh Lohka, District Press Secretary said, the farmer's protest is going on for the last 55 days at the Delhi borders and today is dedicated to Kisan Mahila Diwas. But it is very unfortunate that the government is still adamant on retaining the laws.
They said, the KMSC still hold good its demand of nothing less than repealing of 3-Farm Laws and the agitation will be intensified in the coming days. However, thousands of youths are participating in the January 26 Tractor Parade in which the women from villages will join in good numbers.
On this occasion. Pyar Kaur Santuwala, Karamjit Kaur, Kulwinder Kur, Manjt Kaur, Zone Presidents Dharam Singh Sidhu, Balraj Singh Feroke, Narinderpal Singh Jatala, Gurbaksh Singh Guruahrsahai, Khalar Singh Pannu, Balwinder Singh Lohka Rachhpal Singh Gatta Badhsah, Surinder Singh Ghuduwala were present.
