Steam cooking system for langar in historic Gurdwaras soon: SGPC

Amritsar, January 18, 2021: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will soon use the steam cooking system to prepare langar inside the historic gurdwaras and the support of Rara Sahib samprada is being sought by the SGPC for this purpose.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the interim committee of the SGPC and action has now been taken to implement it. SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur held a meeting with Baba Baljinder Singh of Rara Sahib.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “Initially the steam cooking method for langar would be used for the langar of Sri Guru Ram Das Ji at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib. After this, it will be implemented in other gurdwaras as well. The preparation of langar by steam would save fuel. Besides, pollution will be reduced and time will be saved for cooking langar."
Baba Baljinder Singh of Rara Sahib said, "The preparation of langar by steam method maintains the taste and nutrition. This method has been adopted for the last 10 years to prepare langar at Rara Sahib. At first, the technology was not very advanced, but now it has improved a lot. The required equipment would be brought from Germany for installation of the steam system and this process is likely to take a few months."
Baba Baljinder Singh lauded the efforts of SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur and thanked her for giving an opportunity of service for Guru's langar.
Apart from Baba Baljinder Singh, members of the SGPC interim committee member Satwinder Singh Tohra, member of SGPC Dharam Prachar Committee Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhayasi, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Mukhtar Singh, OSD to SGPC president Amrik Singh Latifpur, Dr Sukhbir Singh, superintendent Malkit Singh Baherwal was also present.
