15,284 beneficiaries got Rs.6.74 Cr under PMMVY scheme
Ferozepur, January 27, 2021: The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), a maternity benefit programme launched by the Centre government was introduced in all the district of the State from Jan.1, 2017, is proving a boon for pregnant women, for a nutritious diet.
Under this scheme, financial assistance of Rs 5,000 each is given to the beneficiaries in three installments for a nutritious diet, of Rs.1,000+2,000 +2,000, subject to the fulfillment of specific conditions under the scheme. Financial disbursement is being done directly into the accounts of the beneficiaries.
This financial assistance was being provided by the government for women who are bearing their first child. The women, who are working for the government or semi-government corporations, are not eligible for aid under this scheme. Those eligible can submit their applications through Anganwadi centers. The scheme aims to reduce the death rate of children at birth, he added, said District Programme Officer.
As many as 15,284 beneficiaries in the district has availed of this scheme and an amount of Rs.6,74,43,000 has been transferred in their accounts directly.
One of the beneficiaries, Amandeep Kaur of village Habib Ke said, I got Rs.5,000 under the PMMVY scheme when I delivered my first child and has proved a boon for me. She also made an appeal to expecting mothers to avail benefits to the maximum for various schemes.
