Delhi, January 30, 2021:
Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) responding to the statement of the PM Modi offering dialogue said that they are also open for talks but reiterated its stand for repealing of the three Agri laws. The Morcha said that “there is no question of the farmer organisations closing the door on talks with the government.”
SKM said they noted the statement made by the Prime Minister of India in the all-party meeting today about the Centre standing by its offer made to the protesting farmers. They said the farmers have come all the way to the doorsteps of Delhi to converse with their elected government and therefore, there is no question of the farmer organisations closing the door on talks with the government. They continue to seek a full repeal of the three farm laws and a legal entitlement guaranteeing MSP for all farmers.
One day fast was observed at all borders of Delhi and all over India. Farmers paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi ji on his martyr day. Learning from the life of Gandhiji, Farmers took a pledge to keep fighting this movement peacefully. They also paid tribute to martyr farmers of this movement by observing two-minute silence.
Reports of Sadbhavana Diwas are coming from all over the country. In Maharashtra, reports have come in from Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Ahmednagar, Nandurbar, Satara, Aurangabad, Nashik etc. In Tamil Nadu, the day was observed in districts like Karur and Kallakuruchi. In Karnataka, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Chikkaballapura, Bangalore and other places saw the Sadbhavana Diwas being marked. In Gujarat too, there were different locations where farmers undertook a hunger fast today. This includes Saberkantha district (Himmatnagar) and Aravalli (Modasa). In Saberkantha, exhibiting their usual repressive attitude, Gujarat police arrested the people on hunger fast. Reports of hunger fast have come in from Haryana too. In Bihar, Sadbhavana Diwas was marked with long human chains in different districts of the state like Muzaffarpur, Nalanda etc. In Madhya Pradesh too, in Bhopal, Betul, Multai and other places, the fast was observed. Samyukta Kisan Morcha acknowledges the participation of every citizen who took part in today's events.
SKM stated, "We condemn attempts of Police to weaken and destroy this movement by the unlawful use of security forces. It is clear that the police is encouraging various attacks on peaceful protestors. The continuous violence by Police and BJP goons clearly shows the palpable fear within the government. Police is randomly arresting protesters and journalists at protest sites. We demand the immediate release of all peaceful protesters. We also condemn the police attacks on journalists who are continuously covering the farmers' protest."
