Railway staffers get Covid-19 vaccination shots in Ferozepur Rail Divison
Ferozepur, February 10, 2021: As a part of the country’s frontline workforce, the Covid-19 vaccinations – billed as the world’s largest vaccination programme covering the entire length and breadth of the country, the drive aims to first inoculate millions of its healthcare and frontline workers in a phased manner.
As per the list compiled by the Health Ministry Railways, more than 30,000 railway employees have so far contracted Covid-19 and around 700 have died from it.
The vaccination, which started in Railways for health staffers in its hospitals on February 3, in coordination with the state government, in Ferozepur railway division, as many as 116 doctors and health workers have so far been vaccinated with Covid-19 in Civil Hospital, including 72 staff of Ferozepur Divisional Railway hospital.
There are around 359 doctors and health workers employed in railway hospitals at Ferozepur, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kotkapura, Pathankot, Jammu, Shri Mata Vaisno Devi and Budgam, said DRM Rajesh Aggarwal.
He informed that none of the health care beneficiaries vaccinated had any serious adverse events following the immunization. However, they were monitored for a period of 30 minutes after the vaccination. All health workers attended to their duties on the same day, which has created confidence in the vaccination campaign.
DRM said, all the frontline staff will get the Covid vaccine shortly. He said it is not compulsory but all frontline staff must get vaccinated as a precautionary measure as it strengthens the immunity in the body and produces antibodies in the body against infection, which helps to fight against external attack. However, for those suffering from some health-related problems, is an exception.
