Cylinder blast in Lakhnaur village leaves two injured

Two persons critically injured after two commercial gas cylinder blasted at a utensil shop located in the village Lakhnaur village's main market. In this blast, which took place around 2.30 pm today, the utensil shop owner Mohammad Shaqib and a worker of a Dhaba, Ramu, got injured and sustained burn injuries. The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital in Phase 6 here, where the duo was undergoing treatment.
On getting the blast incident information, a police team of Sohana police station, including Inspector Bhagwant Singh, visited the spot. The police have seized 18 cylinders and two toolkits, used to shift gas between the cylinders, from Saki Alam's shop.
According to the police, Mohammad Shaqib opened his shop here around two months ago. In addition to selling utensils, he also used to supply the gas in small cylinders after filling them from large domestic cylinders. The incident occurred outside the shop when the gas-filled cylinders were taken out of the shop. The exact cause of the cylinder blast has not been known. Still, it is being speculated that the incident occurred due to gas leakage. As soon as the first blast occurred, just after two seconds, the second cylinder also exploded.
Inspector Bhagwant Singh said, "Shaqib was involved in an illegal practice. He used to fill the unauthorized small-sized (5 kg) cylinders from the commercial and domestic cylinders with the help of a toolkit. We have registered a case against him in this regard. Two large commercial cylinders, four domestic cylinders, two small cylinders, eight unauthorized empty cylinders, and two toolkits have been seized."
He said the injured persons were out of danger, and the statement of Ramu will be recorded after his medical treatment.
