Majithia discloses Cong MLA Harminder Gill had claimed resp in writing for the assassination of Prof VN Tewari
Chandigarh, March 3, 2021: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) legislator Bikram Singh Majithia today levelled serious allegations on Harminder Gill regarding assassination MP Manish Tiwari's father Prof VN Tewari in 1984.
He alleged that Congress legislator Harminder Singh Gill had claimed responsibility in writing for the assassination of former Panjab University Professor and MP Prof. VN Tewari and that this fact was part of the CBI record in the case.
Briefing journalists about the issue he raised during zero hour in the Vidhan Sabha, Bikram Majithia said Gill had claimed responsibility for Prof Tewari's assassination, the father of Congress MP Manish Tewari, on behalf of the Deshmesh Regiment. He said Congress Tewari must be privy to these facts and could be asked to verify the same.
The SAD leader said this was not all. He said senior politician Subramaniam Swamy had asserted in his book that Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale had expressed shock at the assassination of Prof Tewari and expressed his condolences with the latter's wife and apologize to her. He said it was also known to those close to Sant Bhindranwale that he had confronted Harminder Gill and told him that he had committed a sin by becoming party to Prof Tewari's assassination.
Majithia also expressed surprise at how someone who called himself 'panthak' was part and parcel of the Congress party and revered the Gandhi family. He challenged Gill to answer point-blank whether he considered Sant Bhindranwale and Bhai Amrik Singh to be martyrs, whether he held Indira Gandhi responsible for the attack on Sri Akal Takht and Sri Harmandar Sahib and whether he held the Congress party and Rajiv Gandhi responsible for the Sikh genocide of 1984.
He also asked Gill to explain why he had attended the 'bhog' ceremony of former police officer Ajit Singh Sandhu despite knowing that the officer was responsible for the disappearance of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra besides extra judicial killings of Sikh youth. He said all this proved beyond doubt that Gill was only masquerading as a 'panthak' leader but had served as a police tout during the decade long militancy in the state.
