Chandigarh records highest single-day spike of COVID cases in 2021 with 4 deaths
Chandigarh, April 9, 2021:
Chandigarh reported 422 new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday, which is the highest single-day spike of this year. Four deaths due to COVID were also reported in the last 24 hours. Notably, the city crossed mark of 400 for the first time in 2021.
As per the information released by the health department, UT Chandigarh, the total number of active cases in Chandigarh stands at 3,213.
In the last 24 hours, the department has tested 3,260 samples. As per the figure, 393 deaths have been reported in Chandigarh due to COVID-19 to date.
Likewise, the total number of patients who have tested positive to date stands at 29,943.

COVID Death:-
- A 54 year old COVID positive Male R/o Sector 20, a case of Intestinal Obstruction, expired at PGIMER
- A 44 year old COVID positive Female R/o Burail, a case of Rheumatic Heart Disease and its Complication, expired at PGIMER
- A 28 year old COVID positive Male R/o Manimajra, a case of Gastric Perforation, expired at GMCH-32.
- A 65 year old COVID positive Female R/o Sector 23, a case of Hypertension and Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus, expired at GMCH-32.
.Discharged Patients:-
- A total of 320 patients have been discharged including persons from home isolation who have completed 10 days and are asymptomatic, as per MoHFW guidelines.
