Punjab Governor launches Digitized Land Records in UT
Chandigarh, April 9, 2021:
V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, inaugurated the Digitized Land Records of Revenue Department, today in presence of Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS, Home Secretary, Mandip Singh Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner and other senior officials.
With this, the Records of Rights (RoR) of 23 out of 25 villages of Chandigarh is made available online. Now, more than 35,000 shareholders can access, check and even download their Ownership Record through any of the three search criterias - Owner Name, Khewat number and Khasra number, at any location through internet. A link is made available online at Chandigarh Administration website http://chandigarh.gov.in/
Now all the record is stored in digital format, it would keep the revenue record updated and put check on any irregularities in it.
Further, the Revenue Record has also been integrated with Sub Registrar Office, UT Chandigarh. This integration would initiate the mutation process automatically after the registration of document at SRO.
Currently, the Records of Rights (RoR) of the revenue land in each Hadbast (village) is maintained in a separate Jamabandi and Mutation register. Up till now, all RoR documents (25 Jamabandi and 25 Mutation registers) are maintained manually by the concerned Patwari of these villages.
Record of Rights/Jamabandi of each village (Hadbast) is required to be updated every fifth year as per Land Record Manual. However the updation of revenue record has been neglected for decades in Chandigarh. Consignments of many Jamabandis were pending for the past around 30 years.
