Govt should fight COVID-19, not farmers and labourers: Kisan Morcha
New Delhi, April 18, 2021: Taking a dig at PM Narendra Modi led Central Government for the rising number of COVID-19 cases in country, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha on Sunday said that the government should focus on fighting with the resurgence of COVID-19 instead of fighting with farmers and laborers at the present moment.
“At present when the corona epidemic is once again arising, the central government should treat this situation with immediate effect while worrying about the farmers' laborers which they had ignored in the last period of lockdown. From Delhi's borders to other parts of the country, farmers' protests will end only when the demands of the farmers are met,” stated SKM.
They further urged the government to ensure the health and social security of the migrant laborers.
“The government should also make every effort for the health and social security of the migrant laborers so that they do not face any problem. If the government is concerned with the farmers and laborers and the general public, then they should accept the demands of the farmers. Farmers are already committing suicide by the exploitive policies of the governments. In this movement too, more than 375 farmers have died. Based on humanity, the government should set up vaccination centers at the farmers' protest sites, they should be provided with the necessary equipment and instructions for protection from the Corona,” the farmer union added.
The union also condemned the government for its ‘failure’ in controlling the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
“It is very condemnable that the government has not learned anything from Corona's previous experience and the situation of health services and social security in the country is still the same as it was last year. Migrant laborers may have to walk and the crops of the farmers may also be destroyed, but this time, both the farmers and migrant laborers will struggle instead of tolerating the oppressive instructions of the government. The farmers and laborers gave the government a chance, but the BJP has been busy spreading its propaganda. Now the government should accept the demands of the farmers. The government should fight the Covid disease and rising pandemic instead of fighting with the hardworking farmers and laborers,” the farmers said.
