Mohali police arrests three involved in illegal mining; seized 2 tractors and JCB machine
Mohali, April 18, 2021:
The district police on Saturday arrested three persons involved in illegal mining activities here in two separate cases.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Jasveer Singh, a resident of Ambala, Mandeep Singh alias Gaggu, a resident of Bharonjiya village near Mullanpur and Prabhjot Singh alias Goldy, a resident of Parol village near Mullanpur. The police also recovered two tractors, a trolley and a JCB machine from the possession of arrested suspects.
In the first case, Jasveer, who was coming from Naraingarh side, was intercepted on a naka setup by Handesra police near Seehpur village. He was driving a tractor-trolley laden with sand and he failed to show any permit for the same following which the cops nabbed him. The mining inspector, Pradeep Kumar reached the spot and asked the police to register the case against him.
In the second case, SI Harpal Singh of Mullanpur police station arrested Gaggu and Goldy, when they were imvolved in mining activities in Mullapur area. A Swaraj 855 and a JCB machine were also recovered by the police.
The cases under Sections 4(1)21(1) of the Mining and Minerals Regulations Act 1957 have been registered against the trio.
