Election of Nayagaon Muncipial Council’s President postponed
Mohali, April 19, 2021:
The elections of President and senior vice president of municipal council Naygaon, which were scheduled for Monday, have now been postponed for April 26.
Kharar SDM Himanshu Jain said that the elections were postponed because a protest was being held in Majri block.
The results of the Nayagaon municipal council were declared on February 17. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) won 10 seats out of total 21 seats, while congress managed to get 6 seats, 3 seats went to BJP and two seats went to independents.
The SAD councillors on Monday staged a protest in Nayagaon by alleging that the ruling party was trying to postpone the elections as they had no majority in the house.
