Mohali police issues 447 challans in last 24 hours; booked owners of Hotel and IELTS centre

The district police have launched a special drive against the violators of COVID norms. Mohali SSP Satinder Singh informed that during the last 24 hours, 447 challans were issued against persons for not wearing masks. In addition to this, 38 vehicles have also been impounded for moving on roads during lockdown timings without a valid reason.
Similarly, the police have registered 12 FIRs under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code for violation of COVID-19 guidelines.
Among these 12 FIRs, two have been registered against the owners of a hotel and an IELTS Institue respectively at the Dera Bassi police station, said the SSP.
A case under Sections 188,269,270 and 271 of the IPC was registered on Friday against Amit Bindal, the owner of Paras Hotel, where approximately 160 people attended a function. The owner was arrested by the Dera Bassi police.
Similarly, a case under Sections 188,269,270 and 271 of the IPC was registered against Maninder and Vikrant, the owners of IQ Education Hub, where around 10 students were attending the class.
SSP Satinder Singh said, “Mohali police appeals to the public to follow the guidelines earnestly. Maintain social distance and always wear a mask. The COVID-19 guidelines are meant to protect you, your family and the society at large. Support us to serve you better.”
