Chandigarh records highest spike in COVID cases with 890 cases and 11 deaths; death toll crosses 500
Chandigarh, May 3, 2021:
Chandigarh reported 890 new COVID-19 positive cases on Monday, which is the highest single-day spike in the city so far. 11 deaths due to COVID were also reported in the last 24 hours. Notably, the city witnessed 61 deaths due to COVID in the last six days. On Sunday, the city reported 860 COVID cases. The city crossed 800 plus cases for the second consecutive day ever since the pandemic outbreak in the country.
As per the information released by the health department, UT Chandigarh, the total number of active cases in Chandigarh stands at 7,943.
In the last 24 hours, the department has tested 3,911 samples. As per the figure, 507 deaths have been reported in Chandigarh due to COVID-19 to date.
Likewise, the total number of patients who have tested positive to date stands at 45,196.
