Chandigarh: Army to start COVID hospital in PU on Monday; admn considering Hotel Parkview for accommodating COVID patients
Chandigarh, May 7, 2021:
Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, VP Singh Badnore on Friday presided over War Room meeting. The meeting was attended by Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Home and Sanjay Baniwal, Director General of Police at Punjab Raj Bhawan.
UT Administrator stated that with Army Hospital coming up on Monday in Panjab University Campus, the availability of beds will further improve. The hospital will be set-up inside the International Hostel of the university.
Administrator also directed Chairman, CITCO to explore the possibility of utilizing Hotel Parkview for accommodating COVID patients, who want better facilities on payment. He suggested that Indian Medical Association should be requested to run this facility in the hotel, which could be utilized by Chandigarh residents. Basic medical care and nursing should be provided in the hotel on payment basis.
Punjab governor directed Health Department to improve the functioning of COVID helpline. He desired that all persons ringing-up the designated number should be properly counseled and all medical assistance be provided to them, when required.
Bandore reviewed the availability of oxygen in various medical institutions and directed that all efforts be made to ensure that there is no paucity. If necessary, specific quota for private hospitals in Chandigarh could also be fixed.
Administrator directed that weekend curfew should be strictly enforced by the police authorities. The residents should stay indoor. Only essential travel will be allowed during curfew period.
